I'm normally optimistic but I think we have no chance.

The last time I thought we had no chance we beat Chelsea.

    Come on United!

I remember a few seasons back when we played Real Madrid[Jose] and Jones took Ronaldo completely out of the game. Hardly heard his name on the commentary at all. I was expecting him to play coz he did such a great job.

Fellaini and Rashford turned the game for us — both should have started. Very strong second half. Shame it wasn't quite enough.

Not too disappointed with the scoreline but that performance for the first hour... typical Mourinho; never a United display. Once Madrid got the second and forced Mourinho to push the extra player up for the last half hour, no surprise, we looked better.

I don't want to moan, but what was that stupidness Lukaku did going for Herrera's ball when he was offside, and then that stupid foul throw.

Would have resulted in a tap-in for Lukaku had he left it for Hererra imo. It's a real shame that happened, same with Mkhitaryan tripping over his own heels when 1on1 and Rashford scuffing his 1on1. And Lukaku missing the first rebound. Overall we defended very well and had a glut of far better chances than Madrid were able to muster.

They did also hit the post twice though!

But bearing in mind, we won't be playing the champions of Europe every week, I'm feeling optimisticly optimistic about this season.

Nevertheless we carved them open more frequently. Their own attacks were less penetrative and their chances harder worked. Overall I think we had the better opportunities regardless of their superb possession play.
