    Thanks for the time guys!

Q1) What's your thoughts on Man United this season, in particular David Moyes and do you think he'll survive to the end of the season?

    MattLasagne

Q1) IMO they have been pretty average, Moyles has struggled living up to SAF's expectations. I think he will stay at least to the end of the season.

    Jmacadd
    1) I think it's been a shocking season for United, surprised they're basically out of the race. I think Moyes should be sacked but I can't see that happening.

    Advisorybored
Q1) I admired Moyes for his success on a tight budget at Everton. That said, his style of play isn't all that enjoyable to watch. I would like to see him succeed, but he really has to alter his tactics to something more United-worthy in terms of results and entertainment.

I think he stays on for next season to mold the club to his style, but no promises after that.

    Ehrfurcht
Q1) While this season is obviously not up to Man United's standards, I think you'll be back to your normal top-4 selves soon. I think Moyes was put into a very difficult position; while he hasn't performed like anyone expected, it rarely helps clubs to swap managers with two months left.

Q2) Are there any current United Players that you particularly like and dislike?

    MattLasagne
Q2) I don't hold an opinion on any of their players.

    Jmacadd

2)I like Juan Mata a lot, as well as Chicharito, not the biggest fan of Rooney though, I think he's kind of whiny.

    Advisorybored
Q2) Counter-question: who do you think is the least likeable United player and why is it Robin Van Persie? On another note, #freeshinji.

    Ehrfurcht
Q2) I really dislike Fellaini. I remember seeing him headbutt someone while he was on Everton and have wished him misfortune ever since.

Q3) Like us, your away form is much better than your home form, (although you have 17 points from each) you're in 17th home and up in 10th away. What do you feel is the main reason for our relative team’s inability at home this season?

    MattLasagne
    Q3) Style of football.

    Jmacadd

    3) I honestly have no clue why we're so awful at home, the best guess I can think of is maybe they get a bit too relaxed and don't chase the game as much?

    Advisorybored
Q3) I haven't seen you play much as a fan in the States, but for Villa I think it comes down to Lambert's tactics at home. He goes away from the counter and tries to implement something more possession-oriented, and we get burned. Perhaps Moyes has a similar shift in mindset.

    Ehrfurcht
Q3) We are much better on the counter-attack, which is easier to do away. So it's more of an "ability" away, rather than inability home.

Q4) Since your three seasons recently finishing 6th your League position has gotten much worse but seems to be on an upward trend the year, and you haven’t showed in the cups since the League Cup in 2010. Do you feel that Lambert is taking you in the right direction and how long term was the damage caused by McLeaish?

    MattLasagne
Q4) I think the main long term damage was made my MON, I am still uncertain if Lambert is the right man to take us to the next step.

    Jmacadd
    4) I definitely feel like Lambert's headed in the right direction. Once the players mature and gain some consistency I think we'll be competing for Europe places. As for the damage caused I think it was fairly severe. We kept spending money but our league position only got worse.

    Advisorybored
Q4) I'm a pretty new fan (circa end of 2012), but I like where Lambert is going. Villa play exciting (if inconsistent) football when on the break, and I think the squad will improve with experience. As for McLeish, there aren't many albatross contracts left - just Hutton and N'Zogbia, I believe. At least we aren't Newcastle.

    Ehrfurcht
Q4) I like Lambert; he seems to be able to work with what he's given, while setting us up for the long term with many youngsters. McLeish managed Birmingham before arriving at Villa, so I think it's just a matter of installing air fresheners.

Q5 ) As one of the great clubs in English football with a glittering past and excellent honours list what will it take to get you back to the top table again?

    MattLasagne
Q5) A few decent strikers and a very strong manager

    Jmacadd
    5) I think to be competing with the top clubs again we will need to stick with Lambert and let his plan play its course. Eventually we'll need more financial flexibility as well obviously.

    Advisorybored
Q5) Oil money. In all seriousness though, Everton has a fantastic setup, and we should aim for something similar. Moyes might not have paid enough attention to the youth system, but their coaches did a great job: Barkley and Rooney are the standouts. With the dawn of the FFP era, building slow has to be it, really.

    Ehrfurcht
    Q5) Money and Midfielders.

Q 6) Does looking at clubs like Chelsea and City who won the lottery but don't have half the history of your club contending for trophies each season annoy you more than the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and United?

    MattLasagne
Q6) City more so as they where on the same level as us and competeing for europe before their big takeover. We have proven we can beat the likes of city and chelsea, it's more annoying that we can't beat the smaller clubs.

    Jmacadd
    6) Well I wouldn't say it annoys me all that much but it can sometimes. Not so much because of them competing but because it feels like we could be up there too.

    ]Advisorybored
Q6) History might not mean as much as it should to me. If they're good now, they deserve to contend now. Sometimes luck is on a club's side. It's just how it turned out.

    Ehrfurcht
Q6) Yes. I'd rather Arsenal, Liverpool, and United switch off for a decade than have Man City buy more trophies.

Q7) Who's going to win the League

    MattLasagne
Q7) Man city, although I would like to see Liverpool get a chance at glory again, its boring seeing the same teams win each season

    Jmacadd
    7) I think any one of the top 4 could take it really. Had you asked me a few months ago I would've said Arsenal but I have to go with either Chelsea or Liverpool. I'm partial to Liverpool though, Suarez and Sturridge don't show many signs of slowing.

    Advisorybored
Q7) Chelsea. Man City have a fantastic attack, but I think Chelsea's quality in the back will be the pillar they need to hold on.

    Ehrfurcht
Q7) Liverpool in my opinion, they can't not score. We proved that Chelsea can be beaten, and I really do not want Man City to win.

Q 8) Where will both our clubs finish the season?

    MattLasagne
    Q8) Villa 12th Man U 7th same as now

    Jmacadd
    8) I think y'all won't move to much up or down the table. If anything, you'll finish sixth but I think you'll stick around at 7th. Optimistically I'd say 9th but more realistically we'd finish 10th-11th.

    Advisorybored
Q8) United will be 6th, agonizingly close to a Europa spot. Villa will be 11th.

    Ehrfurcht
Q8) I think you will get 6th after Spurs continue their downward trend. I think we'll get 11th or 12th based on our match with Hull on 3 May.

Q9 ) Predictions for the game on Sunday?

    MattLasagne
Q9 ) It could go eitherway, we are good against experienced players however the last game put us back to reality. I think 1-1.

    Jmacadd
    9) Hopefully it'll be a good game, my optimistic projection is 1-2 but more realistically it'll be 2-0 or 3-1 after last weekends abysmal performance.

    Advisorybored
Q9) 2 - 1. Goals for Young, Rooney, and Bacuna.

    Ehrfurcht
Q9) My rather hopeful prediction: 0-1. Man United has possession the entire game, but can't find a way to score. Then we get a successful counter: Long boot from Guzan to Benteke's head that finds Delph or Gabby.
  2. For todays section I asked the fans over at www.westhamonline.net a few questions and while I was there for an hour or so I got some great banter and some interesting replies. Thanks to all those who got involved in the thread!

Q1 ) Let’s get it out of the way, what are your thoughts on Manchester United and in particular Moyes this season?

    Mr Polite
Amusingly poor but nothing more than was expected. You employ a boring limited manager and you'll be a boring limited team.

    Know it All
Can't stand Man Utd or their fans to be honest and Moyes was always up against it from the start, Sir Alex was no fool, he knew the massive rebuilding job needed.

Quite funny, I hope you sack him and we go all out to get him in the summer.
    Sxboy_66
A1) Surprised it's been as bad as it has but Ferguson knew it was coming, that's why he bailed when he did.

Q2) Who is you most hated Manchester United player and why?

    Mr Polite
Rooney would be up there I suppose as a beacon to a lot of what is wrong with football. Over Rated, over paid and arrogant thug.

  3. A hopelessly optimistic look at what could happen is we were to win the next thee home games.

    All at home.
    All massively difficult ties
    Potentially season defining/turning

    Liverpool
    Olympiakos
    City

If United could manage to win the two league games and get through the CL tie against the Greek outfit it could really turn this season upside down. As much as we all think that the top four is out of reach, both Arsenal and Liverpool are 11 points clear of us. If we were to get the result over Liverpool that's down to 8 with 8 games to go. Arsenal are up against Spurs on Sunday So potentially we could be 2-3 points behind Spurs with a game in hand or just 8 points behind all Arsenal/Liverpool and six behind Spurs (still with game in hand over spurs).

From there, here's the respective run ins.

    UNITED
West Ham United v Manchester United
    Manchester United v Manchester City
    Manchester United v Aston Villa
    Newcastle United v Manchester United
    Manchester United v Hull City
    Everton v Manchester United
    Manchester United v Norwich City
    Manchester United v Sunderland
    Southampton v Manchester United

    LIVERPOOL
    Cardiff City v Liverpool
    Liverpool v Sunderland
    Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur
    West Ham United v Liverpool
    Liverpool v Manchester City
    Norwich City v Liverpool
    Liverpool v Chelsea
    Crystal Palace v Liverpool
    Liverpool v Newcastle United

    SPURS
    Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton
    Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur
    Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland
West Bromwich Albion v Tottenham Hotspur
    Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham
    Stoke City v Tottenham Hotspur
West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur
    Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa

    ARSENAL
    Chelsea v Arsenal
    Arsenal v Swansea City
    Arsenal v Manchester City
    Everton v Arsenal
    Arsenal v West Ham United
    Hull City v Arsenal
    Arsenal v Newcastle United
    Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion
    Norwich City v Arsenal

Now, under the scenario that United and Spurs win this weekend, like I said that leaves the four teams looking like this...

    Liverpool Played 29 - points 59
    Arsenal Played 29 - points 59
    Spurs Played 30 - Points 56
    United Played 29 - Points 51

Three of Arsenal's next four games after that could see them drop points heavily. If we were to win at West Ham and they lost at Chelsea (both fairly likely) then the gap between us could be down to just five points before the City game giving us something to really play for.

We could be as close to Spurs as two points if we win the game in hand and although they have the easiest run in of the lot I still think they're the most likely to take 6th position. By the time they play Liverpool at Anfield we could be ahead of them.

Liverpool look to be the toughest to potentially overhaul with a run of four very winnable games after our match. If they win those then I think they're a cert for top 3 regardless of what happens on Sunday.

So all in all, I think that if we were to have three magical home games in a row we honestly could be back in contention for the top four mostly at the expense of Arsenal. If we don't win our next three very difficult league games then it's all over.

As for the game Vs Olimpiakos, if we were to turn that tie around which is very doable then it would put us on a high before the City game.

Season defining moments, and if we manage to get the first one out of the way on Sunday, I'll be looking forward to the next few games more than anything all season.

  4. This is a brand new feature we'll be doing weekly now on UnitedReds.Net having a Q&A session with our rivals for the next game. To kick things off we've got Liverpool at Old Trafford and of course some sparky opinions. Below are a sample of the replies we got, there was over 100 so it's impossible to bring them all but these have been picked completely at random from Reddit and our friends at www.Kopblocks.com.

Question 1 Lets get it out of the way, what are your thoughts on Manchester United and in particular Moyes this season who has moved from your local rivals to your biggest rivals in football?

    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

United? Well, you're...there. I struggle to assign any specific hate for your club, really, as an entity. The parts that make it up, however, that's a different story. Every club has its fair share of idiots, of course, but United's seem to be more vocal than most. That could just be my bias speaking, however. There are some extremely knowledgeable fans in your lot as well, so perhaps getting them to speak a bit louder might be nice.

Moyes is a decent manager in the same way that Hodgson is a decent manager - he knows what he knows, can get a certain type of player playing a certain type of way and has shallow depths, as soon as he leaves those depths it all falls apart, and that's what you're seeing this season.

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

I said it before the season kicked off, and it was that Moyes would drag you down. He is never going to replicate any success that Ferguson had and I personally believe your club is fucked under him until you get a new manager.

He's a defeatist, a negative coach and his persona just doesn't fit in with Manchester United. A couple of years ago when we played Everton in the FA Cup semi final, someone wrote before the game that he was 100% confident we'd win even if we went 1-0 down by half time. His said Moyes would try defend the lead in the second half, sit back and soak up pressure trying to protect the lead. That happened, then in the second half we scored twice to win 2-1.

Sums up Moyes perfectly. Ferguson was worth 15 points alone a season. He's a genius in my opinion and it's no surprise to me that he was invited to speak at the Harvard Business School. My opinions on him being a likeable character is another topic of conversation, but Moyes has the toughest job in modern football replacing him.

The fact that Moyes has, on paper, one of the most threatening trios in European football in Rooney, RVP and Mata, and made them look like pure shite says enough to me.

    #MoyesIn :)

    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

I couldn't believe you appointed him and he has done better than I ever expected. Eerily similar stats with the Ev's last season under him for large periods this season.

    LordKurin - Reddit

I am amazed that Moyes is still your coach honestly. United didn't barely eke out victory last year. They were dominant all season long and won the league by 11 points. At the beginning of this season everyone predicted that United would win again because the "squad would only be better. They were young last year and have had another year to mature." Now suddenly since they are losing under Moyes they are a terrible squad who "miraculously" won the league? I'd be more likely to buy someone talking about how A) the rest of the league got substantially better while they did not and B) Injuries have hurt them this year. But my counter to that argument is that they quite simply do not look like a good team anymore. 82 crosses in a game doesn't mean the players suddenly forgot how to pass through the middle, it means the coach doesn't know how to coach them to play that way. In my opinion Moyes is out of his depth. He was a decent coach at a mid-table club who's tactics were based around beating the bad teams and trying to get lucky against the good teams. Now suddenly he is expected to beat everyone. If (a very large question), he can figure out why the mindset that has worked for him his entire life is wrong, he can adjust and be decent because the players seem to like playing for him. But he's not a young coach and changing mindsets is difficult to do.

    Rydleo – Reddit

I think you have crap owners and am astounded you haven't hounded them out yet. You make near enough 100M more per year than your closest rival and yet they spend very little on the squad comparatively. I also think Rooney signing an extension was a mistake, as were the purchases of Mata and Fellani. Frankly I think you need a better, more visionary manager than Moyes. Maybe Bielsa or Klopp, as examples. You have enough money that winning the league should be near enough a foregone conclusion every year or at the very least challenging.

    n0nni - Reddit

Well i hope Moyes stays for a long long time.

    trasofsunnyvale – Reddit

I'm delighted with United this year. SAF is an all-time great (in terms of as a manager, bit of a cunt otherwise) and papered over the cracks at MU for years. I also think it's hilarious how irresponsibly the Glazers have run United, but they've always had the value of the club, which is astronomical, to rely on to cover their debt. The only thing that can really damage the value is underachieving for a sustained period, and it doesn't look good at the moment. I'm pretty happy with this. Moyes always was an overrated manager and only ever succeeded at stay comfortable adjacent to success at Everton. Tactically, he is Hodgson-esque and a disaster. Tl;dr - best manager United have ever had.

    polo5353– Reddit

As always it's nice to see Man Utd below us. I don't think Moyes is a bad manager, I believe it to be a case of building his own team and getting them to play his way before consistency comes.

    Aiirwick– Reddit

Its disappointing to see Moyes being hated on by some supporters. Moyes is no SAF and he or any other manager would not be able to do well after their first year at United considering the trash Fergie left him with.

    Whunting– Reddit

United don't have a manager who can turn a mediocre squad into a championship winner. That being said, they're too big a club to stay in 7th for long. They'll be back in the top 4 next year. Love moyes though.

    JMR Elephant– Reddit

I hate you, I hate your stinking guts, you could be in the championship and I'd still feel this way, it's a passionate hate. I never disliked Moyes at Everton, I respected his ability to work with penny's and constantly compete in the premier league, as for Moyes at united, it's obvious he's out of his depth, he can still probably constantly compete in the premier league, but nowhere near the title. So in short, I fucking love Moyes at united. My opinion is that the only possible way for united to start to look like a force again would be to hire a new, younger manager. In the blueprint of Klopp at Dortmund and Rodgers at Liverpool, and I guess even Matinez at Everton. Someone young and adaptive, but I hope to fuck they don't and get their fair share of Hodgson's.

    Helpopotomus– Reddit

Moyes has made this season much more entertaining than I ever thought possible. I mean that as both a Liverpool and a football fan. The premier league needed a good shake-up, and it's nice to have some fresh news.
Question 2 What are your realistic expectations for this season?

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

At the beginning of the season, I would've bit your arm off for 4th place. I couldn't see us getting into the top 4 because of Spurs' purchases. I recently opened a thread here asking if we're getting greedy now because we seem to be in a title race, would we be happy settling for less? I think if we keep our first team completely fit from now until the end of the season, and Rodgers doesn't mess around with tactics like he did at Villa, then we could at least hope for third position.

I want to secure third place because I still have a disgusting feeling United will win the Champions League and push us out of the competition if we get fourth!

    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

I've learned not to expect anything from this club at the minute, ha. I think we could get 3rd, the title is beyond us. Having said that, anything is possible, especially this year.

    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

Champions League qualification. Winning the league would be a miracle greater than Istanbul.

    LordKurin– Reddit

At the beginning of the year I expected to be in a season long fight for 4th position. Right now I honestly believe that we are in contention for the title, but we are more likely to finish in 2nd or 3rd simply because Chelsea has to screw up for us to pass them, and we would need to play perfectly.

    Rydleo– Reddit

I expected to come in 5th at the start, but am quite happy with anything in the top 4.

    n0nni– Reddit

3 Place, winning or 2 is very unlikely not impossible but unlikely, i can see us getting 3.

    trasofsunnyvale– Reddit

Realistically, we're looking at 4th or 3rd. Optimistically, we'll push Chelsea and City for the title until the last few weeks.

    polo5353– Reddit

4th. Anything better is honestly a complete result. If you offered Liverpool fans Champions League at the start of the season they would have bitten your hand off!

    Aiirwick– Reddit

    2nd Place. (Chelsea 1st, City 3rd, Arsenal 4th)

    Whunting– Reddit

Top 4. Its not done and dusted yet, and if fixtures don't go our way then it could be a challenge.

    JMR Elephant– Reddit

Top 3 and anywhere above that would be taken. Ofcourse it's not 'realistic' to imagine us going undefeated to the end of the season, but it's not out the realms of possibility as we're looking stronger every game.

    Helpopotomus– Reddit

3rd-4th. I'm ecstatic with the job Rodgers is doing.

Question 3 Do you think Suarez will stay at Liverpool and who would you like to see the club sign?

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

I think if we get into the top 4, then yes, he'll most likely stay. A genuine title challenge will encourage him too especially, and I genuinely believe he's happy here. I'd like to say I want us to go out and get some star players, but I think having some sensible signings that will slot in and improve the team with nothing fancy would do. I think our team this season has shown team spirit, unity and a collective effort works just as well as star players (look at your team for example). Greizmann would be a dream signing, a decent left back is very welcome, a midfielder, a third striker and a couple of wingers.

    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

As Ronin said, no one who could afford him wants him. Real have moved on to other targets if they ever had a real interest in the first place and the other 4 big spenders we either won't sell to or won't want him.

There's a couple of players we've been linked to that I'd kill to have and I think Rodgers could bring the best out of, players like Viktor Fischer or Alexandre Lacazette. If we're going for dreamland then I'd love Kroos, who seems to be if not available, notunavailable either. But we need a pair of quality fullbacks, some depth in midfield and another winger or two.

    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

I think he will. The only team he would leave for and could've afforded him are unlikely to try.

    LordKurin– Reddit

Assuming we make top 4, I really do think he will stay. I would be very disappointed if he left. I would love to sign Kroos, but that's a long shot. I think that Subotic from Dortmand would be a brilliant addition.

    Rydleo– Reddit

Whether Suarez will stay or not has far more to do with whether anyone has the wherewithal to bid on him or not than anything else I think.

    n0nni– Reddit

Yes i think he will stay if we get CL, but you never know Real, PSG or someone else might just throw some silly money our way forcing our hand. Who we should get i don’t know... we still need a quality full back so ill just say Luke Shaw.

    trasofsunnyvale– Reddit

I think Suarez is staying with CL football, and that is looking rather good. I would love to add a winger or outside forward and a fullback in the window. Not sure who is realistic at the moment, though.

    polo5353– Reddit

Yes. Signed a new contract and with the very real possibility of CL football I can't see him moving.

    Aiirwick– Reddit

Suarez seems likely to stay at Liverpool. I'd like to see Isco or Shaw.

    Whunting

I think he'll stay if we get champions league. Not to mention i think his price just went up to the level where only Madrid, Barca and PSG could afford him (assuming we won't sell to english teams).

    JMR Elephant– Reddit

Yes and Kroos, just to fuck you off.

    Helpopotomus– Reddit

Yes if Perez doesn't set his heart on him, no if he does. I'd ideally like these players, or players of the same talents. Lovren, Schurrle and Rakitic.

Question 4 Who is you most hated Manchester United player and why?

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

Evra. The whole racism issue was fishy, in my opinion. I just don't think there was enough evidence, and Ferguson played a blinder. Anyway, I don't want to get into it, because it's impossible for Liverpool and Man United fans to talk about it without vitriol!

    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

Of your current lot, I absolutely despise Evra, and have done for ages - well before the Suarez thing. He just gives off an air of unlikeability, similar to Ashley Cole - quality players but somewhat lacking in the personality department.
    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

    Now? Evra

    LordKurin– Reddit

Van Persie seems like a cunt and it's even more annoying because he's so good and wins you guys so many games. :)

    Rydleo– Reddit

I really don't hate any particular player, but Van Persie has turned into a bit of a shit. "No one leaves me space, wah, wah, wah". Frankly you seem to play better with him off the pitch lately using Rooney up front anyway.

    n0nni– Reddit

Would be quicker to list the ones i don’t hate, but top of the list is still Evra you know why.

    trasofsunnyvale– Reddit

I don't care for Evra, but that is probably not a PC response in the football community. RVP is also a huge twat and not as good as anyone, especially he, thinks.

    polo5353– Reddit

Ferdinand. Full of condescending quotes in the past, nice to see him being outclasses regularly!

    Aiirwick– Reddit

RVP, He plays for glory/money and not for the club. The player is never biger than the club.

    Whunting– Reddit

Evra. Not even going to explain.

    JMR Elephant– Reddit

    Evra, because he's charlatan

    Helpopotomus– Reddit

Van Persie - He's petty, cowardly, dirty, smug, selfish and good.

Question 5 Is Rodgers having one great season capitalising on United's weakness or is he turning you into genuine title contenders?

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

I've often pondered what the league would look like had Ferguson still been in charge. Would it have pushed the other teams on to perform better, would it have made a difference, etc? Either way, I don't think it's fair to say "well, someone's only doing well because of x, y and z". We can only do whatever is in front of us, and we've shown a lot more steel this season and turned games around to win (recent games against Swansea and Fulham for example) where we would've lost them or drawn before.
    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

To claim this season has anything to do with United strikes me as a bit of egotism on your part, tbh. The only difference to this year if United were doing well is there would just be another team to scrap with and we'd (possibly) be a place lower in the table.

Turning being the operative word, we've a while to go yet.
    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

Great season? It isn't great yet. It is progression so far. We are second so it isn't exactly us capitalising on anything.
    LordKurin– Reddit

I believe that Rodgers is definitely turning us into genuine title contenders and I don't think the fall of United has affect that. I do think that this is an odd season with 3 of the top 4 from last season changing managers and that has "accelerated" our success. That said, my main concern about staying this high is if we can afford to keep pace. Everyone in the PL is making money and buying great players ATM.
    Rydleo– Reddit

Rodgers loves the game and is a good tactician. His man management is decent, particularly for the younger players. His signings though are a bit woeful and I do wish he would rotate the squad more sometimes. Title contenders will be tough and we're not quite at that level yet, I don't think.
    n0nni– Reddit

I really don’t think our season has anything to do with your weakness we are playing great right now and we would still be around the top if you where. That said, if we can keep the team and build upon it we should be right up there for next few years. Only thing that can stop us IMO is if we don’t add more debt to the team and/or if we start selling our top players.
    trasofsunnyvale– Reddit

Rodgers looks like a great manager. He has a clear, but open, philosophy and is willing to change his mind on players and tactics after seeing hard evidence. I couldn't be much happier with him and hope he is here for a long time.

    polo5353– Reddit

Not sure. This season has been great, but this summer will really see what he has underneath. We need at least 3-4 top class players to turn us into PL contenders. Need a quality LB, CB and winger at least.
    Aiirwick– Reddit

Rodgers is a great tactical manager and is does really well with man handling.
    Whunting– Reddit

Were playing excellent football. And it has nothing to do with Moyes having you playing league 2 "hoof the ball into the box" football.
    JMR Elephant– Reddit

He's capitalising on our strengths, not your weakness. We beat Arsenal 5-1 and Tottenham 5-0. We're a strong fucking team and it's only really forward from here, UCL will make us a lot fucking better.
    Helpopotomus– Reddit

The style in which we play is hugely confidence building. The amount he gets out of players is absurd. Sturridge, Henderson, Suarez and Sterling where all well below their current abilities when BR joined the team. The thought of what he could do with players with higher ceilings makes me salivate.

Question 6 We have played against each other many times over the years. Which is your favourite game against us, and why?

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

The last match I went to against you lot was the FA Cup match when Kuyt scored the winner, and the tension up until that point was unbearable. I've been there when we've lost in the league, and it's not AS bad as being knocked out of a competition. So I'd say then. Though the 4-1 in 2009 was brilliant.

    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

Obviously the 4-1 in 09 looms large in the memory but it was the duels between Houllier and Ferguson back at the start of the 00s that I really remember, mainly because they were in the formative years of my footballing life.
    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

Funnily enough, a video was posted to it in our match thread - the 4-0 in 1990.
    LordKurin– Reddit

Honestly, I've only been following for about 5 years, but even though there have been more "exciting" games, the one that stands out to me the most is the first one this season. Beating you guys 1-0 and winning 3 straight to start the year made me go from pessimistic to optimistic about what we could accomplish this season, esp since it was the type of game that we would normally lose the last few years.
    Rydleo– Reddit

I love them all. It's always a great occasion.
    n0nni– Reddit

    4-1
    trasofsunnyvale– Reddit

Got to be the 4-1 at OT.
    polo5353– Reddit

    4-1 at OT.
    Aiirwick– Reddit

1-0 Sep 2013. Well it was before my birthday so it was a great present. Either that or 4-1 Old Trafford 2009.
    Whunting– Reddit

    4-1 at old trafford.
    JMR Elephant– Reddit

    4-1 Kiss the screen Stevie
    Helpopotomus– Reddit

    1-4.

Question 7 What are your predictions for the game this Sunday?

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

I think we'll win. Either a piece of magic will seal it after a tense game after you lot raise your game for the match (funny reversal!), or we'll outplay you and beat you in a similar fashion to 2009.
    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

Tough one to call, really. I know it's a cliche but form really does go out the window for these occasions. If you're up for it, and your midfield resembles something other than itself, you could take a win. Otherwise, I'll go for a 3-1 win for us.
    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

Think your lot are going to go overboard on and off the pitch with the atmosphere. Will play right into our hands.
    LordKurin – Reddit

Given both teams defensive proclivities to make mistakes, I'm going to say 7-5 Liverpool. :)
    Rydleo– Reddit

I think we'll win, but it'll be close. Honestly we're both somewhat inconsistent so it could really go either way depending on which team shows up for the game.
    n0nni– Reddit

    3-2
    trasofsunnyvale– Reddit

3-1 to Liverpool (third is a counter attacking goal near the end to seal it as United push for an equalizer).
    polo5353– Reddit

    3-2 to Liverpool
    Aiirwick– Reddit

    2-0 Liverpool
    Whunting– Reddit

1-0 for us. I would be delighted. This game is special in that anything can happen. It doesn't matter if we go into it 1st, and you go in 18th, anything can happen. People feeling over confident for sunday forget that.
    JMR Elephant– Reddit

It's anyones game really, you're at home, we're in form.
    Helpopotomus– Reddit

I'm honestly not sure. We should win this year, but it's a derby, and it should mean a huge deal to both teams. I can't call it.

Question 8 Where do you think both clubs will finish in the league this season?

    Matt8pie – Kopblocks.com

I had United to finish 2nd or 3rd at the beginning of the season, and Liverpool 5th. I think we'll finish third if we keep everyone fit. I think United will finish 5th.
    TheScarletPimpernel – Kopblocks.com

I think we've wrapped up the Champions' League, tbh. Or, at least, we're about 90% there. You lot? That entirely depends. 5 points to Spurs isn't insurmountable but I think your season rests on this week's game (egotism on my part). If you win, you'll kick on and claw that back; lose or draw, and I think you'll have to confine yourself to finishing 6th.
    Ronin – Kopblocks.com

2nd-3rd for us. 5th for you
    LordKurin – Reddit

    Liverpool 2nd. United 6th.
    Rydleo– Reddit

    I think we'll finish 3rd or 4th and you'll finish 5th or 6th
    n0nni– Reddit

3- I think we have a great shot at getting 3 over Arsenal. I don’t see you catching Tottenham, so you will fight it out over 6 with Everton so 7.
    trasofsunnyvale– Reddit

LFC finishes 3rd and United finish 6th.
    polo5353– Reddit

    Liverpool 4th. Man Utd 6th.
    Aiirwick– Reddit

    LFC 2nd. MUFC 6th
    Whunting– Reddit

    Liverpool 4th, United 5th.
    JMR Elephant– Reddit

    we'll finish 2nd and you lot 21st
    Helpopotomus– Reddit

    3rd and 7th
  5. When thinking about what to write today I decided to write about something which in light of all of our real problems at the moment both on and off the field still manages to raise tempers in some despite being relatively meaningless. I’m referring to three specific phenomenon, one ancient, one brand new and one which has been around for a few years. In order, ManU, GGMU and the much maligned half and half scarf.

    ManU

Although ManU has been used to describe United since not long after we changed from being the Heathens it was in the aftermath of the Munich disaster that it gained negative connotations with many rival fans shocking using the term as a way of mocking the tragedy. Pretty much all United fans I know from The UK and Ireland over a certain age refuse to use this term, however it’s used quite a bit by some in the media and even by players in a non-derogatory way. Ryan Giggs has been heard on countless occasions calling United ManU and you can be sure he doesn't mean anything bad by it.

By and large we can learn to live with the use of it by some sections of our fans and try to educate them about certain parts of our history without being condescending about something that, especially for non-English speakers will be just how they’ve grown up with United being referred to.

    GGMU

Not the song might I start by saying although personally it’s not one from the great United songbook that I like (preferring the much more Manc ‘Who the fuck are ManUnited’), but rather the use of the acronym GGMU and in particular its use in social media. GGMU is a new thing and I only ever encounter it on Twitter/Facebook by people I don't know and as such it seems to be predominantly said by young OOT's (I am one myself (an OOT that is, not young)). The big problem is that it seems to be something originated to be similar to YNWA which is equally cringey when used at the end of random statements.

It’s pathetic enough when Liverpool fans do it but the fact it appears some of our fans seem envious of their saccharine motto and have decided they want one too seems a bit tragic.

Please please, let Liverpool keep this one thing all to themselves.

    The Half and Half Scarf

This one seems to be the most divisive of the three from what I've read on various forums. The die-hard season ticket holder seems to be of the opinion that under no circumstance should one of these abominations be bought or worn. The occasional visitor to Old-Trafford on the other hand might see it as a nice memento or souvenir from his trip, be it a once in a season or once in a lifetime trip. For the life of me I don’t know how any United fan could buy merchandise with Liverpool, City or Leeds on it let alone wear it, but if I was over for a big CL game or even a game against a team I didn't hate as viciously as the aforementioned trio I might be tempted to bring one home for the wall but I still couldn't bring myself to wear it on the night.

I think if you want to wear one, go ahead but know that you will look like a tit and you will risk getting a bit of abuse from the locals.
